The Poudenx terroir name pays tribute to the family behind the creation of the Saint-Geours-d'Auribat tile works, in the heart of the Landes region. Founded in the early 20th century by Paul Poudenx, who was then mayor of the town, the site was later developed by his son Xavier (who also became mayor) and grew into a major economic player in the area, employing up to 140 people in the 1970s. After a period of inactivity, the tile works was revived in 1982 under the impetus of Imerys, before continuing its development to proudly represent the Edilians group since 2018. Spread across 13 hectares, the plant now produces more than 10,000 m² of clay roof tiles per day, available in 13 models and 16 colors, intended mainly for roofs in southwestern France and other southern regions. With 88 employees and generating more than 150 indirect jobs, it carries on local expertise while embracing a drive for industrial and environmental innovation.
